Anthony V. Lotito Founder, CEO

Anthony V. Lotito, CEO of VAS Associates Inc. , is a retired First Grade Detective of the New York City Police Department. His distinguished and diversified career in law enforcement has included assignments to narcotics, homicide, larceny, and forensic units. Mr. Lotito also served in the highly respected Master Case Squad during which time his tenure in this squad broke some of the most high profile cases.

The experience he obtained allowed Mr. Lotito to provide his expertise as a consultant to the insurance industry, attorneys, and Fortune 500 companies. He has had an impact on IBM, Burroughs Corp., Avida Corp., Styles Corp., and Citibank, as well as to a number of high profile clients in the entertainment industry, to name a few.

Mr. Lotito is a member of the New York City Police Department honor legion which is the most revered organization in the New York City Police Department; it is reserved for only the most highly decorated officers in the Department. Members of this organization have made the ultimate sacrifice to make their city and nation a safer place to live. Mr. Lotito has been called upon on many occasions by local and federal enforcement agencies to conduct investigations and to provide physical security.

Some of Mr. Lotito’s most renowned events include:

  • Retention by the Federal Credit Union of the United States to investigate a credit fraud in New York City involving over $75,000,000 in theft. He was instrumental not only in identifying the fraud and solving the investigation, but he was also able to recover millions of dollars in property
  • Retention by Mr. Armand Hammer of the Hammer Foundation to provide blanket security for the transportation and display of rare renaissance period art owned by the Soviet Union, valued at over $800 million dollars. In spite of the high risk profile of this assignment, there were no security problems.

The stated objective of VAS, as directed by Mr. Lotito and his associates, is to provide security to low profile, high risk assignments. Mr. Lotito takes an active role in the day to day operations. He believes in the hands on approach that includes security consultation to clients and mentoring and training to personnel.

Donald N. Barclay, Director of Operations

Mr. Barclay has over 30 years experience in the investigation and security field both in the public and private sector. He held various ranks throughout his police career before retiring in 2000 as a Lieutenant/Commander of Detectives. He has done everything from investigating homicides to directing large scale video surveillance operations for the NYPD. His last command, before leaving public service, was as the Executive Officer of the largest law enforcement technical surveillance unit in the United States.

Since his retirement from the NYPD, Mr. Barclay has been an Assistant Vice President for a major financial institution responsible for corporate security matters including the personal protection of their President/C.O.O. He has also held executive positions for two prominent New York Investigation and Security firms.

Mr. Barclay received his Bachelor of Science degree from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and is a graduate of the prestigious F.B.I. National Academy in Quantico, Virginia and the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynn County, Georgia.
